Limits, breaks and help across Canada

Deposit limits, session reminders and self-exclusion are practical controls. Help and age thresholds must be selected for the actual province.

Set a money limit first

PlayNow and Atlantic Lottery describe weekly deposit limits; other operators provide their own controls. Set a budget you can afford to lose before opening a casino account. A deposit limit is not a target to reach, and a bonus should not change the budget.

Take a break

If play is hard to stop, use an operator’s time-out or self-exclusion path. Ontario and Alberta also operate province-wide self-exclusion frameworks for regulated sites. A separate self-exclusion path may be needed for lottery-operated products.

Find local confidential help

Ontario: ConnexOntario 1-866-531-2600. Québec: Gambling Help and Referral 1-800-461-0140. Alberta: 211. For New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Atlantic Lottery links the relevant provincial lines. British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan PlayNow pages also direct players to local support.

For family and friends

Support lines can help someone concerned about another person’s gambling. If there is immediate danger, contact local emergency services. This publication is an editorial guide and cannot manage a casino account or self-exclusion request.
